Complete casting has been announced for the upcoming Roundabout Theatre Company production of Tennessee Williams’ The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore directed by Michael Wilson. In addition to the previously announced Olympia Dukakis, the cast will feature Curtis Billings, Elisa Bocanegra, Edward Hibbert, Maggie Lacey, and Darren Pettie. The show will begin performances at off-Broadway’s Laura Pels Theatre on January 7, 2011 ahead of a January 30 opening.
The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore is a haunting drama that takes place at the picturesque Italian mountaintop home of Flora Goforth. Flora is a wealthy American widow who has detached from the world in order to write her memoirs. When a handsome and mysterious young visitor arrives without warning to keep Flora company in her final hours, this dreamlike play blossoms into a fascinating meditation on life and death.
Oscar winner Dukakis (Flora Goforth) has appeared on the New York stage in Rose, Social Security, Who's Who in Hell, The Aspern Papers, Night of the Iguana, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, Curse of the Starving Class, Peer Gynt, Titus Andronicus, Electra, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and A View From the Bridge, among others. Among her many film credits are Mr. Holland's Opus, Mighty Aphrodite,The Cemetery Club, Steel Magnolias, and most recently Away From Her with Julie Christie. She won an Academy Award for her performance in Moonstruck.
Billings' (Giulio) off-Broadway credits include The Orphans Home Cycle and The Play About the Baby. Among his regional credits are The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore, Summer and Smoke, Night of the Iguana, Camino Real, A Streetcar Named Desire, Macbeth, Summer and Smoke, Zoo Story, Gross Indecency and A Streetcar Named Desire.
Bocanegra (Simonetta) began her theater career at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and went on to perform in theaters like the Mark Taper Forum, Hartford Stage, The Huntington Theatre, South Coast Rep, The Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Mabou Mines. Film credits include Girlfight, Spun, White Oleander and most recently El Superstar: The Unlikely Rise of Juan Frances.
Hibbert (Witch of Capri) is currently starring in the Roundabout’s production of Mrs. Warren’s Profession with Cherry Jones. Other Broadway credits include Curtains, The Drowsy Chaperone, Noises Off, The Green Bird and Me and My Girl. He also appeared for eleven seasons on TV hit Frasier.
Lacey (Frances Black) is appearing in MTC's Spirit Control and starred in last season's epic Orphans' Home Cycle. She made her Broadway debut as Emily Webb in Our Town starring Paul Newman. Other Broadway credits include the revival of Inherit the Wind and Dividing The Estate. Off-Broadway credits include Big Times, Engaged, The Bald Soprano, Three-Cornered Moon and The Butterfly Collection.
Pettie (Christopher Flanders) is currently appearing in the Atlantic Theatre Company’s The Collection & A Kind of Alaska. Other New York theater credits include This, Butley, Dedication or The Stuff of Dreams, Hobson's Choice, 99 Histories, Unwrap Your Candy and Measure for Measure.
